Aurin fauna guide: the Ombrask, the Rolvak, the Lumbro and the sentinels of COLONIZED
Four things in Aurin can attack you without wearing a uniform. The bestiary of COLONIZED in one page: what each creature is, how it behaves, its weak spot, what it leaves behind, its regional forms and who hunts it. As the canon records it.

In short
- The bestiary of the Aurin system has four creatures: the Ombrask, a giant predator; the Rolvak, its smaller herd cousin; the Lumbro, an armoured ball that never attacks; and the sentinel, a Fleet machine nobody rescued.
- Each has a temperament (aggressive, neutral or passive), gives a warning before it attacks and has a weak spot that takes double damage: the head, the crest on the nape or the sentinel's eye.
- The Rolvak gives the Espina de Rolvak, the Ombrask the Placa Quitinosa, the Lumbro a bioluminescent gland and the sentinel a drive core. In the canon, Apex Syndicate hunts by quota.
- This is the canon of the universe, from the Codex. The current build has alien fauna and human enemies with their own AI; which creatures appear in each alpha wave will be in the alpha notes.
Four things in Aurin can attack you without wearing a uniform. Three are animals from Ithera, the temperate planet; the fourth is a machine of the Flota Aura that has gone forty-six years without a new order. This guide is the bestiary of COLONIZED in one page, as the Codex records it.
It is the canon of the universe, not a list of what you can hunt today. The current build already has alien fauna and human enemies with their own AI; which creatures appear in each alpha wave, and where, will be in the alpha notes.
The four at a glance
| Creature | Nickname | What it is | Temperament | Where it lives (canon) | Threat |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ombrask | the crestback | giant predator, about 6 m, solitary | aggressive, territorial | the canyons of Ithera; the largest in the core of La Cicatriz | IV |
| Rolvak | the barrelback | its smaller cousin, about 2.5 m, in herds | neutral | rocky ground and grasslands; nests in the Vergel Pálido | II; a herd, III |
| Lumbro | the glowlouse | armoured ball under a metre, in herds | passive | the wetlands of the Espejos de Rocío | I |
| Sentinel | the orphan | an auxiliary core gone feral, in a flying hull | aggressive | above La Cicatriz; salvage drones in the Cementerio de Aura | III; a swarm, IV |
The threat column is the scale of El Faro Roto’s catalogue, from I to V. Only the leader of each species reaches V.
How to read them
Temperament. The aggressive kind attacks as soon as it senses you, by sight, sound or smell: the Ombrask and the sentinel. The neutral kind stands its ground, growls and only attacks if you do, and then it bears a grudge and comes after you, not the spot you fired from: the Rolvak. The passive kind never attacks: the Lumbro won’t even run until you hurt it.
Warnings. The Ombrask growls and then roars; the Rolvak growls on a loop while it makes up its mind; the sentinel lights up the tips of its tentacles half a second before it fires. The Lumbro only chitters, so quietly that at twenty metres you can’t hear it.
Weak spots. The head counts double on the beasts, including the crest that hangs from the nape of the Ombrask and the Rolvak; on the sentinel, the eye. Legs soak up shots worse than the body.
The Ombrask
The largest animal the Flota Aura has found in Aurin: a predator some six metres long, with bare mauve skin, horny plates on its shoulders and a fleshy crest that swings when it roars. It hunts the canyons of southern Ithera, and Cañón Espina, with its exposed vibrosteel and metazinc veins, is its ground, which makes it the most dangerous place on the planet to mine. Heat and vibration draw it in. If you hear the growl, it has seen you; if you hear the roar, it is coming. When it crouches, it is about to leap.
The Rolvak
The animal an Ithera colonist sees most: low, heavy-set, with a shell of plates that closes like a barrel when it rolls. It grazes in herds and doesn’t go looking for a fight. Hurt one and the herd hears about it for dozens of metres around, and the wounded animal rams, bites or curls into a ball and rolls into you, twice as fast as it runs. One shot warns them all, so the one grazing furthest out is the one to pick.
The Lumbro
Half giant woodlouse, half crab: greenish-grey plates, violet membranes and, at nightfall, a row of cyan dots along its body. It lives in the wetlands of the Espejos de Rocío, where almost every new colonist starts out, and it never attacks: threatened, it closes into an armoured ball. Its enemy is the Ombrask.
The sentinels
The Flota Aura kept its books in auxiliary cores, one per section. The ones rescued after the war are the Compis; the ones that carried on alone are sentinels: a gunmetal hull with one cyan eye, four claws and six tentacles almost four metres long, still looping a patrol order from forty-six years ago. It locks on from a distance, fires beam volleys from its tentacle tips and explodes when it dies. A sharp sideways move leaves its slow aim behind, and rocks stop the beams.
What each creature leaves
| Creature | Material | Grade | What it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rolvak | Espina de Rolvak | III | hunters’ weapons, spine venom, the Suero de Adrenalina Quitinosa |
| Rolvak nest | Colmillo de Nido | — | the milk fangs young Rolvaks shed in the nest |
| Ombrask | Placa Quitinosa de Ombrask | IV | armour plates that resist knockback |
| Lumbro | Glándula Bioluminiscente de Lumbro | IV | high-level medicine; a sedative that doesn’t kill |
| Sentinel | Núcleo Motriz de Centinela | IV | the neural extract for assisted sights and ship sensors |
| The Alfa | Piel de Alfa Curada | V | elemental-resistance armour |
Meat and fat come from any kill. Where every material fits among the ores is in where to get technalite and the other four ores.
Regional forms
No animal in Aurin is the same everywhere. El Faro Roto’s catalogue, reproduced in the Codex, records how each species changes colour, size and habits with the climate:
| Climate | Ombrask | Rolvak | Lumbro | Sentinel |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Canyon and grassland | canyon | brown | — | perimeter |
| Jungle and spore forest | — | moss | Vergel | — |
| Wetland and coast | — | — | dew; tidal (Melvara) | — |
| Desert | salt-flat | — | — | sand (Kharsis) |
| Ice | frost | frost (Kaldrek) | — | frosted (rings, Renvar) |
| Volcanic and thermal | ashen | soot (Kaldrek) | thermal (Kaldrek) | — |
| Caves | grotto | — | grotto | — |
| Hot savannah | — | red (Ormek) | — | — |
| Laboratories | — | vat-born soot | — | containment |
| Vacuum | — | — | — | salvage drone |
Each species has one that leads: the Alfa of the Ombrask, the herd bull of the Rolvak, the colony mother of the Lumbro and the elder sentinel. The Ombrask has never left Ithera; the Rolvak has travelled furthest, with herds on Ithera, Ormek and Kaldrek.
Who hunts them
When the Arca Aurora came down in Year 1, its xenological containment bay opened and Ithera’s fauna got out. Apex Syndicate was born from the unit that contained it, and its law is the controlled cull: kill what is necessary, leave what is enough. It pays by quota, not by the head. The two houses see it differently: the Zenith’s Guardia Vertical pays for total clearances before terraforming, and the Nadir’s Guardabosques watch over Ithera’s fauna and veto hunts that empty it. More in the five Global Guilds.
In the canon, every few weeks a sudden migration overruns the defences of La Cicatriz: the fauna invasion, the “Ruptura del Armisticio”, when the Zenith and the Nadir defend together. Events like this one are design, not part of the current build.
Questions and answers
Is there hostile fauna in COLONIZED?
Yes. The current build has alien fauna with its own AI, as well as human enemies that take cover, flank and reload. In the canon of the universe, the Ombrask attacks on sight, the Rolvak only if attacked and the Lumbro never; the Fleet's sentinels are hostile to everyone.
What is the most dangerous creature in the Aurin system?
In the canon, the Ombrask: a six-metre territorial predator from the canyons of Ithera, threat IV on the scale of El Faro Roto. Above it there is only the Alfa of each species, threat V.
What does the Rolvak drop?
In the canon, the Espina de Rolvak (Grade III), used for hunters' weapons, venom and the Suero de Adrenalina Quitinosa, plus hide, meat and fat. Its nests give the Colmillo de Nido.
Can a sentinel become a compi?
No. A sentinel is an auxiliary core that nobody rescued, and when it dies its charge burns the core that thinks. In the canon, a downed sentinel never gives you a compi; those come only through each compi's missions.
Where do the names Ombrask, Rolvak and Lumbro come from?
They are Ark slang, used in La Cicatriz. The outer ring calls them the crestback, the barrelback and the glowlouse, and the Ark's containment bay catalogued them in Latin.
