Where to get technalite and the other four ores of COLONIZED

A field guide to the resources of the Aurin system: what technalite is and where it is richest, the other four ores, the world that has them all, the materials only one place gives, what the fauna leaves behind and what can't be mined. As the canon and the design record it.

In short

  • Technalite is the most used ore of the Aurin system: black-violet glass in young lava flows and amethyst druses in geodes. No technalite, no screws; no screws, nothing.
  • The five ores are technalite, metazinc, neolith, vibrosteel and flux. Kaldrek has all five in abundance, and is contested; Ithera has all five, less rich, and its risk is the fauna.
  • Technalite is richest on Kaldrek and Kharsis, where the Garganta de Sil is, and turns up often on Ithera and Ashkar.
  • This is the resource design and canon of the universe, from the Codex. COLONIZED is in development: the main build has ninety crafting recipes, and resource gathering is in development.

Technalite is the most used ore of the Aurin system: black-violet glass in young lava flows and amethyst druses in geodes. Without it there are no screws, and without screws there is nothing. It is one of the five ores of COLONIZED, with metazinc, neolith, vibrosteel and flux.

This guide follows the resource design of the universe as the Resource and loot guide of the Codex records it. It describes the world, not what you can do today: COLONIZED is in development, the main build has ninety crafting recipes (by hand, at the workbench, the fabricator and the furnace), and resource gathering and the deposit system are in development. What each alpha wave includes will be listed in the alpha notes.

The five ores at a glance

Ore What it looks like Where it is richest What it is for
Technalite black-violet glass; amethyst druses Kaldrek and Kharsis (the Garganta de Sil); often on Ithera and Ashkar ingots, screws, ammunition, the ProtoGun
Metazinc black rock with silver-grey veins Kaldrek; on Ithera, the walls of Cañón Espina; on Ormek, the crust of Las Calderas, from dusk to dawn the structural alloy of weapons
Neolith black volcanic rock with pale crystal joints Kaldrek; on Ithera, the druses that floods expose in the Espejos de Rocío ammunition, rockets and grenades
Vibrosteel brown rock with rust-red veins and nodules Kaldrek (El Yunque) and Kharsis; on Ithera, the rich pocket of Cañón Espina screws, with technalite: the bottleneck of everything
Flux yellow-olive sulphur crusts and golden pyrite cubes Kaldrek (the Campo de Fumarolas Perpetuas), Kharsis and Ashkar the propellant for ammunition

Where to find technalite

In the canon, technalite is common on Kaldrek and Kharsis, and the best-known seam is the Garganta de Sil on Kharsis. It is frequent on Ithera and Ashkar, and scarce on Melvara, Selvane, Ordrek and Kharun. It is the cheapest ore to smelt into an ingot, which is why it runs out first: it goes into screws, ammunition, the colonists’ suits and the ProtoGun, the handheld tool with the extractor fitted as standard.

Which world for what

  • Kaldrek, the cold planet with rings, is the most fertile body: all five ores, in abundance. It is also contested.
  • Ithera has all five, frequent rather than rich. It is where new colonists start, and there the risk is not other people but the fauna.
  • Kharsis, the arid planet, is rich in technalite and vibrosteel, and gives materials no one else has.
  • Cinera has not a gram of metal. On Tirane, a sanctuary moon by custom, and in El Filo on Renvar, nothing is extracted.

Every body’s figures are in the Aurin system in numbers.

Grades and quality

In the design, every material has a grade: I raw, from anywhere; II refined, through a workbench or a furnace; III rare, from a single world; IV exotic, from high-risk zones or from hunting particular fauna; V unique, which can’t be mined and comes from a mission or an event. Each batch also has a quality, from crude to flawless. This double axis is design, not part of the current build.

Three materials are volatile and don’t last long away from where they formed: Cristal Umbrío, about 25 minutes; Núcleo de Piroclasto, 40; live scrap, 60.

What only one world gives

  • Vitrarena: the glass tubes lightning leaves in the dunes of Kharsis after a dry storm. It needs a soft beam, or it crumbles.
  • Resina Fósil de Kharsis: honey-coloured nodules in the fossil mesas and basins of Kharsis. Not to be confused with the Ámbar Licuado of the three wells of the Fosa Ámbar, which belongs to whoever holds it.
  • Carbonáceo de Cinera: the only natural source of polymer, worked in the dark at El Tizón.
  • Núcleo de Piroclasto: it only comes from the active fissures of Kaldrek, and it is the fuel cell of ships.
  • Cristal Umbrío: pure in the Rings of Kaldrek, impure on the surface; the only thing left of the moon Mornane that still shines.
  • Chatarra de Aura: salvage from the Cementerio de Aura, the rings and Renvar, which breaks down into metazinc, vibrosteel and screws.

What the fauna leaves

Some materials don’t come out of rock. In the canon, Apex Syndicate’s Mercado de Trofeos at El Aguijón buys them:

Material From Grade What it is for
Espina de Rolvak the Rolvak III hunters’ weapons, venom, the Suero de Adrenalina Quitinosa
Placa Quitinosa de Ombrask the Ombrask IV armour plates that resist knockback
Glándula Bioluminiscente de Lumbro the Lumbro, from animals already dead IV high-level medicine and a sedative that doesn’t kill
Núcleo Motriz de Centinela sentinels IV the neural extract for assisted sights and ship sensors

What each creature is and where it lives is in the Aurin fauna guide and the bestiary of the Codex.

What can’t be mined

Some things only come from the story of the world: the Fragmento de Casco del Arca Aurora, from the deep core of La Cicatriz; the Núcleo de Navegación Aura, from a chain of the Pathfinders; the Reliquia de Solmera, from the anniversary of the war of Year 1. And an auxiliary core, the part of a compi that thinks, is never mined and never sold: a downed sentinel never gives you one. The Compis are in development.

Vibrosteel draws company

Vibrosteel has a signature: if you can detect it in a vein, so can anyone with a scanner. In the canon, that is what brings the scavengers, who wait until a crew has finished mining before they land behind it. Who they are, and who else to avoid, is in the people of Aurin.

Questions and answers

What is technalite in COLONIZED?

The most used ore of the Aurin system: black-violet glass found in young lava flows and amethyst druses in geodes. In the design, it goes into ingots, screws, ammunition and the colonists' own extraction tool, the ProtoGun.

Where is technalite found?

In the canon it is common on Kaldrek and Kharsis, where the Garganta de Sil is, frequent on Ithera and Ashkar, and scarce on moons such as Melvara, Selvane, Ordrek and Kharun.

What are the five ores of COLONIZED?

Technalite, metazinc, neolith, vibrosteel and flux. Kaldrek has all five in abundance; Ithera has all five, less rich; Cinera has no metal, and nothing is extracted on Tirane, a sanctuary moon.

Can I mine resources in COLONIZED now?

Not yet. COLONIZED is in development: applications for the closed alpha are open and its first wave is planned for winter 2026-2027. The main build has ninety crafting recipes, and resource gathering and the deposit system are in development. What each alpha wave includes will be in the alpha notes.
