Kurz gesagt

  • COLONIZED is a space survival MMORPG for PC in Unreal Engine 5, in development, with applications open for a closed alpha whose first wave is planned for winter 2026-2027.
  • Today's build has spherical planets you walk from the ground to the edge of space, first- and third-person combat resolved on the server, and a persistent universe on dedicated servers.
  • Its ships are modelled inside and out at real scale; flight, landing and multi-crew are in development and are not promised for the alpha.
  • Every claim is labelled done, in development or designed, and the public roadmap reads the development tracker every 15 minutes.

If what you want from a space game is to live inside it in first person, to walk a planet from the ground to the edge of space, to fight with a weapon in your hands and to belong to something in a universe that keeps running when you log off, COLONIZED is built around exactly that. It is a space survival MMORPG for PC, made in Unreal Engine 5 and in development. Applications for its closed alpha are open, and the first wave is planned for winter 2026-2027.

This page goes through what that kind of player usually looks for and answers each point with what COLONIZED has today, with three labels: done means it is in the main build, in development means there is code that is not finished or not merged, and designed means it exists on paper. Only the first counts as a feature.

First person, from the ground to the edge of space

The planets of COLONIZED are not maps with a skybox. They are spheres with gravity that points to their centre, and you can walk from a valley floor to the point where the air runs out and gravity lets go. The sky works the same way: day and night, eclipses and volumetric clouds that you see from below and from above. Fifteen worlds of the Aurin system have been generated from their lore, each with weather of its own: rain, snow, dust, fog and wind.

Combat decided by the server

In a persistent shooter, who hit whom cannot depend on whose connection is faster. COLONIZED resolves every shot on the server and compensates for latency: in the automated test, 97.7 % of hits registered correctly with 150 ms of latency, against 8.2 % without compensation. Human enemies take cover, flank, reload and retreat; alien fauna has its own AI.

A universe that keeps going

Characters, inventories and bases live in a database behind dedicated servers. In a 24-hour load test with 100 bots, the server’s 95th-percentile frame time was 12.48 ms against a budget of 33.33. Your colony keeps its beds and respawn points; what you build stays where you left it.

Ships: modelled today, flying later

The seven ships on this site, from the five-size William’s XASTER line to the MVG RVN-1000T Revenant dropship, are modelled inside and out at real scale, with moving parts, and you can explore them in the hangar. Ship flight, landing and multi-crew are being built and tested in the engine on a test ship, and a capital ship is in development. None of that is promised for the alpha, and we will not say otherwise until it can be played.

What COLONIZED does not have yet

  • Ship flight and combat in the main build.
  • Walking aboard a ship in flight.
  • An economy and trading, faction warfare, sieges and conquest: all designed, none built.
  • A release date, a price or system requirements: none has been announced.

How it is being made

COLONIZED runs on Unreal Engine 5.8, with Nanite, Lumen and Virtual Shadow Maps, and its development build integrates NVIDIA DLSS. The Aurin system sits inside Unreal’s double-precision world, with distances compressed so that one astronomical unit of the lore is 15 million km. We explain how in how to simulate a solar system at scale, and what exists today, system by system, in the October devlog. The roadmap reads the development tracker every 15 minutes.

How to get in

Apply for the closed alpha: it is free, keys go out in waves, and each friend who completes an application moves you ten places up the list. The conversation happens on our Discord, and everything verified about the game is on COLONIZED in facts.
