L’essentiel

  • COLONIZED is a space survival MMORPG for PC in development; applications for its closed alpha are open and the first wave is planned for winter 2026-2027.
  • Its fifteen worlds (four planets, ten moons and a captured asteroid) are generated from the lore of each body, with terrain from real elevation data and physics and weather of their own.
  • Survival has five needs, crafting has ninety recipes, and bases are built piece by piece with structural integrity: pull a support and what hangs from it comes down.
  • The Compis, companion drones with a role and a talent tree each, exist in a development branch and are not promised for the alpha.

If what you love about space games is landing on a world nobody has walked yet, surviving it and building a home on it with friends, COLONIZED is built around that loop, with one difference that shapes everything: its worlds are not infinite and not random. There are fifteen, each generated from its own lore, in a solar system with a history. COLONIZED is a space survival MMORPG for PC in Unreal Engine 5, in development, with applications open for a closed alpha whose first wave is planned for winter 2026-2027.

Each point below says whether it is done (in the main build), in development (code that is not finished or not merged) or designed (on paper).

Fifteen worlds, each with a reason to exist

The Aurin system is a canon before it is a map: a yellow-white star, four habitable planets, ten moons, a captured asteroid and a band of wreckage from a war. COLONIZED’s generator turns that canon into worlds. Radius, gravity, air, biomes and the named places of each body come from the lore; the relief comes from real elevation data remixed by the generator and from the physics of impacts, craters and erosion. Ithera is temperate, with oceans and an emerald noon sky; Kharsis is arid, with canyons and salt flats; Kaldrek is cold, with rings over its nights. The guide to the Aurin system has every body with its figures.

The work on those worlds is visible and dated. On a single day in October, the ground learned to change tone with slope, wetness and sunlight, rocks started to sit properly in the soil, and dune fields were designed from each world’s wind. That day is in the devlog of 13 October.

Survive, craft, build

You arrive with nothing. Thirst, hunger, temperature and stamina are tracked on the character, and leaving the atmosphere means vacuum. Ninety recipes take you from what you can make by hand to the fabricator and the furnace. Bases are built piece by piece, and the structure is real: remove a support and what depended on it comes down. In a test with three clients, 5,000 pieces ran at 6.2 ms on average.

A companion that learns from you

In the lore, a compi is an auxiliary core from the old colony fleet, recovered and put back to work. In the game, the Compis are five companion drones, one per guild, each with a role, a signature ability and a talent tree, recovered through a chain of guild missions and built from a blueprint. Their development is finished in a branch that is not yet in the main build, and they are not promised for the alpha. Their story is in the Compis.

What COLONIZED does not have yet

  • Ship flight, landing and combat in the main build: they are in development.
  • An economy and trading: designed, not built.
  • Seasons of the year and weather effects on survival: not in the build.
  • A release date or price: not announced.

Questions et réponses

Are the planets in COLONIZED procedurally generated?

They are generated by a procedural chain, but from the lore of each body rather than from a random seed: radius, gravity, atmosphere, biomes and places come from the canon, and the terrain comes from real elevation data and physics, not noise. There are fifteen bodies with a surface, under visual review.

Can you build bases in COLONIZED?

Yes. Bases are built piece by piece with typed sockets and structural integrity, and you can share them with your colony, a player clan with beds and respawn.

Is COLONIZED co-op?

It is an online MMORPG on dedicated servers, where players form colonies and share bases. Group roles with the Compis exist in a development branch.

When can I play COLONIZED?

Applications for the closed alpha are open at colonized.work/alpha, and the first wave is planned for winter 2026-2027. Taking part is free, according to the alpha terms.
