Dossier
The M, grown in the beam.
The M taken further: a single-pilot patrol ship with a whole deck to live on, a bridge with its own anteroom and four S3 weapons.
Dossier
The L is not a new ship: it is the M taken further. It grows in the beam to 17.77 m and turns all that width into living space.
The deck runs from side to side — an arrowhead that opens from the cockpit toward the nacelles. Forward, a lengthened bridge sits behind its own anteroom, sealed by a two-leaf door that slides into the walls. Behind it: a vestibule with an armoured locker and an armoury for two rifles and two pistols; a cabin with a 2.05 × 0.90 m bed, wardrobe and desk; a washroom with shower, toilet and washbasin; and a lounge with a curved bench, a table and a screen.
Aft, the hold spans the beam between the engines, above the ramp.
Four S3 weapons: two railguns under the wings, inboard of the fold line, and twin laser cannons on the spine.
House and pattern
The L does not add a new drawing to the pattern: it derives from the M, grown in the beam, and William's homologates it as part of the same XASTER lineage. The bridge anteroom, the lounge and the full-width hold are the M's answers, taken further.
Strengths
- A whole deck for one pilot: lounge, cabin, washroom with shower and a full-width hold.
- Bridge with anteroom: a sealed command space behind a sculpted two-leaf door.
- Four S3 weapons: two Horquilla railguns and two Faro laser cannons — the heaviest single-seat loadout in the family.
- Missiles: four S3 missiles per salvo, sixteen in reserve.
- Bigger engines: nozzles 1.35 times wider than the M's.
- Folding wings: the span drops from 17.77 m to 13.48 m on the ground.
Role in the fleet
The L is a long-range patrol ship for a single pilot: the combat alternative to the Starhopper for those who patrol rather than chart, built for patrols that cross the Aurin system from one world to the next.
Within the family
Barely longer than the M (18.03 m against 14.88 m overall) but almost half as wide again (17.77 m against 12.14 m), and 34 t against 22 t, the L is the last single-pilot XASTER. The XL adds what the L doesn't have: a second seat, a turret and a galley.
