Dossier

A working dropship: 64 UU hold, rear ramp, sliding side doors, four engines, heavy retractable legs and a turret for when the drop zone talks back.

Dossier

The ALPHA M is a working ship. Challenger drew it for industrial and field cargo: a dropship with a 64 UU hold, a rear ramp and two side doors that slide away into pockets in the hull.

Its hull is built in layers, like heavy machinery. A dark structural skeleton shows in the joints; over it, white industrial panels with real thickness and chamfered edges, cut in chevrons that point forward and staggered from band to band like armour plating. Four engines — two stacked pods on each side — each with an angled intake, plated cowlings, a finned heat exchanger and an eight-petal nozzle. Underneath, four heavy dog-leg landing legs that fold away into their wells.

The hold is laid out on the UU grid: eight rows by three columns on two levels, plus a sixteen-position mezzanine hung from the roof frames. Side walkways, a loading platform with its own ramp control station, and direct access from the ramp and from both 3.2 m side doors.

Forward of the cargo bulkhead is the crew space: a vestibule, a bed grown out of the hull lining, and a wet cell with a walk-in shower, washbasin and toilet. Three steps up, the two-seat cockpit: rail-mounted command seats, a cantilevered horseshoe dashboard, an overhead console and the armoury behind the seats.

And for when the drop zone talks back: a dorsal turret with two S1 ballistic repeaters, two chin barbettes with S2 ballistic repeaters and a dorsal module that launches four S2 missiles per salvo.

House and pattern

Challenger is a lineage of shipyards from Solmera whose working patterns entered the MMU (Matriz de Manufactura Unificada) during the Éxodo. Today it is a pattern house: every ALPHA M is built on an MMU chassis, and Challenger homologates it together with the workshops of The Forge.

Its line is industrial through and through — cargo and field work, built to be used hard and kept running. White paint that is meant to wear, orange stripes and lights, the triangle emblem on the flank and a capacity plate that tells the loading crew exactly what the hold will take.

Strengths

  • 64 UU hold: 48 positions on the floor on two levels plus 16 on the mezzanine — empty, with a flush floor, ready for the load.
  • Three ways in: a rear ramp plus two 3.2 × 2.0 m side doors that slide forward into the hull.
  • Built heavy: four retractable dog-leg landing legs and four engines in stacked pods.
  • Crew comfort: a bed, a wet cell with walk-in shower and a two-seat cockpit with rail-mounted seats.
  • Real teeth: dorsal turret (2 × S1, −8° to +90° elevation, full rotation at 60°/s), chin barbettes (2 × S2) and four S2 missiles per salvo from a stock of sixteen.

Role in the fleet

The ALPHA M is armed field cargo. It sits between the Tortuga Fletera and the Tortuga “Yugo”: a step up from the Fletera, with its own weapons and landing gear built for the field, and less hold than the Yugo. Its natural ground is the front of the work — Kharsis, Kaldrek and the Anillos de Kaldrek — wherever cargo has to land and the drop zone may answer back.

Size reference

At 21.02 m overall, the ALPHA M sits between the XASTER L (18.03 m) and the XASTER XL (23.01 m) — but its hold is in another league: 64 UU. Next to the MVG Revenant it is less than half the length (21.02 m against 54.48 m) and carries under a fifth of its cargo (64 UU against 358).
